What is Arts Orange County?
Arts Orange County is the official arts council for the County of Orange, California. Dedicated to the advancement of the arts within its local communities, ArtsOC is “the leader in building appreciation of, participation in, and support for the arts and arts education throughout Orange County.”  Although recognized by the County, ArtsOC is neither county-operated nor county-funded.

What does Arts Orange County do?
Arts Orange County promotes arts events, sponsors arts programs, organizes a month-long art festival, advocates for arts education, creates a network of arts-related individuals and organizations, acknowledges outstanding local artists and art organizations, and consults with arts organizations seeking assistance in their endeavors.

How is Arts Orange County funded?
Arts Orange County receives funding from membership dues, fundraising efforts, grants, and contributions from foundations, corporations, and individuals. Less than 1% of ArtsOC’s budget is provided by the California Arts Council, our state’s arts agency.

How does Arts Orange County support arts education?
By working directly with the California Alliance for Arts Education, Arts Orange County has created The Creative Edge -- A network of local arts alliances within various cities throughout Orange County. Each arts alliance is composed of arts-supporting citizens who aim to advocate the importance of a standards-based arts education in our local schools. ArtsOC regularly updates an Arts Education Resource Directory for teachers, administrators, and parents which lists all of the arts-related school field trips, workshops, residencies, and performances available to Orange County students. ArtsOC also advocates the efforts of the Orange County Department of Education’s Arts Advantage program.

How does Arts Orange County financially support local artists or arts organizations?
ArtsOC provides grants to local arts organizations, individual artists, and arts education programs when funding is available. A list of past grant recipients is available here.
