Since 1990, Chapman University’s Argyros School of Business and Economics, A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research has prepared a study entitled Economic Impact of the Nonprofit Arts on Orange County (on behalf of the Orange County Business Committee for the Arts). Its 2006 report determined that the nonprofit arts alone in Orange County contribute nearly $500 million to the local economy.

Americans for the Arts has prepared Creative Industries Reports for Orange County's Congressional, State Senate and State Assembly Districts. The source of the data is the respected business research company Dun & Bradstreet, and the reports show numbers of arts-related businesses and organizations and the number of individuals employed by them.
